About Celia Carey

Award-winning filmmaker, photographer, and writer Celia Carey received her MS from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, and a degree in film from Loyola University.
Over the last 20 years, Celia worked with broadcasters around the globe including National Geographic, Discovery, PBS, and the BBC. She contributed photos and articles to numerous publications such as Scientific American, Outside, Executive Traveler, and Health. Projects that she directed or produced have received numerous awards including eleven Emmys for promotions and documentaries. Other industry acknowledgements include: a Golden Gate Award for best short documentary, San Francisco International Film Festival; audience choice award from the Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival; Cine Golden Eagle Special Jury Award, Best Arts Film Nationwide; and a major grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. A resident of Napa Valley, she’s also collaborated with many in the wine industry on creative endeavors.
In 2002, the British chapter of The Explorers Club nominated her for membership for her science and exploration documentary work.
She was inducted as a Fellow.
